Microdermabrasion TreatmentMicrodermabrasion is skin resurfacing procedure which involves a mechanical form of exfoliation to remove the outermost layer of skin, revealing the smoother, fresher looking skin below. Microdermabrasion can improve mild to moderate sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, enlarged pores, and other skin problems. Dr. Miller and Dr. Steinbrech perform microdermabrasion on an outpatient basis at their JCAHO accredited office-based facility at Gotham Plastic Surgery of New York City. This is a painless procedure that does not require anesthesia. During treatment, a gentle stream of tiny crystals is applied to the skin. This scrapes away the damaged outer layer of skin which is then removed with gentle suction. The result is a younger, fresher, glowing appearance to the skin. This is a very gentle treatment which removes only a small amount of skin, making it appropriate for use on the face, chest, neck, arms, hands and other sensitive areas. The results of microdermabrasion are immediate and there is little to no recovery or downtime. Multiple treatments are often required to achieve the best results. Microdermabrasion can be performed in conjunction with other skin rejuvenating treatments such as chemical peels or laser skin resurfacing. |
