Lip Augmentation

Full, luscious lips have always been recognized as a sign of beauty. For those of us not born with full lips or whose lips have thinned with age, there is a solution. Lip enhancement with injectable fillers can add fullness to the lips and even improve fine lines and wrinkles around the lips and drooping corners of the mouth.

Candidates for lip enhancement include individuals who are generally healthy and have realistic expectations for enhancing the lips. Because there are many options in injectable fillers, a consultation is the best way to determine the safest and most effective treatment option for your individual concerns.  Some options include Juvederm, Restylane and Perlane.

Dr. Miller and Dr. Steinbrech perform the lip enhancement procedure on an outpatient basis at their JCAHO accredited office-based surgery facility at Gotham Plastic Surgery of New York City. Local anesthesia may be used and procedure times may be as little as ten minutes. Once the anesthesia is administered, the filler of choice is carefully injected into the lips with a thin needle.

Some minor swelling or bruising may result, though these side effects typically fade quickly. Patients are able to immediately return to work and other normal activities following treatment as recovery is immediate. Results are temporary and treatment will need to be repeated in order to maintain the results.
