Question:Are there really ways to eliminate and kill cellulite?Answer:Cellulite has been a huge problem for women for a very long time! It is caused by three main components. The dimpling is caused by tethering of underlines tissues, uneven weakening of the over lining skin and irregular collections of globular fat. For years we have tried to treat it with creams that have not been very satisfactory in terms of results. With new technologies we can now attack the causes directly. We are excited to have our new INVASIX laser machine bodyTiTe liposuction treatment which specifically attacks all three specific areas. The laser has a radio frequency component which thickens the skin, a liposuction component which removes the fat and an additional element which release the tethering that causes the dimples. Say goodbye to the days of CELLULITE! Call Bernadette and Donna to set up a complimentary consultation and to see if you are a good candidate.
Posted in Injectables, Sculptra on May 11th
Question:At what age is Sculptra appropriate?Answer:I recently performed a 3rd Sculptra treatment on my office manager, Bernadette, she is 34yrs old but looks like she is in her 20's. We used Sculptra which is a fantastic injectable for adding volume and architectural stucture. It is a product that after injected stimulates collagen synthesis to sculpt the face and add volume in a very natural and beautiful way. For Bernie, we accentuated her cheek bones, gave her an Angelina Jolie jawline and softened her temples. Bernie was also looking for a way of thinning out her lower face....botox is an amazing tool to relax the muscles in this area and create definition to contrast the Sculptra in the cheekbones. This gave her the facial structure of a Scandinavian model. Dr. S

Question:Will cheek implants help to provide any lift to mildly sagging cheeks? Answer:Yes. Cheek implants not only increase the volume of the cheek area, they also lift the sagging cheek skin.

Posted in Botox, Injectable Fillers on April 10th
Question:I read recently that BOTOX can be used to treat hyperhydrosis. How effective is it as a treatment, and does your office offer these services? Answer:Very effective, and yes we do this.
Posted in Rhinoplasty on April 9th
Question:What sort of age-related changes of the nose can be addressed with rhinoplasty? Answer:As we get older, the tip of the nose falls toward the upper lip and the nose elongates. A rhinoplasty will raise the tip, shorten the nose, and narrow and rotate the tip into a more youthful appearance. Question:I read recently that BOTOX can be used to treat hyperhydrosis. How effective is it as a treatment, and does your office offer these services? Answer:Botox definitely can help treating hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating. The Botox acts to stop the nerve from stimulating sweat not just under the arms, but on hands, feet, and other areas of the body. We offer it in our office because we have seen how effective it can be. Generally it can last from 3 to 6 months. So the best time to do it is in the early spring.
Posted in Body Lift, Mommy Makeover on April 8th
Question:The Mommy Makeover sounds like it involves several procedures. Does that require general anesthesia? Answer:The Mommy Makeover does NOT require general anesthesia. In most cases, there is no problem with performing it with local anesthesia and a little sedation to make you relaxed. That being said, I find a majority of my patients would rather be asleep. The Mommy Makeover generally involves a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) with liposuction of the flanks in combination with a Breast rejuvenating procedure: either Breast Augmentation with an implant to replace lost volume or a breast lift (Mastopexy) or both (Augmentation-Mastopexy). I find that this is a real game-changer for women and totally gives my patients a great shot in the arm in terms of self-confidence and feeling healthy and great all over.
Posted in Arm Lift, Brachioplasty on April 7th
Question:I am 59 years old, from New York, and not very active. While I am not overweight, I know I don’t exercise enough. Maybe that’s why my upper arms flap when they shouldn’t. Can this flap be removed with brachioplasty? Where is the scar with this kind of surgery? Answer:Upper arms flap because of loss of tone (elasticity) to the skin with time and sun exposure from the beach or the pool. There is a major misconception that if you just tone up the triceps at the gym it will improve. That’s really not the case, because the skin and the fat is the problem, NOT the muscle. You have two major options: 1. If there are any pockets of fat and you have good elasticity, you would be a good candidate for laser liposuction to melt the fat and tighten the skin at the same time. 2. If the opposite is the case (no fat but lots of excess skin) then Brachioplasty (surgical arm lift) is needed by either bringing the skin back into the armpit and trimming with an incision in the armpit or if there is a lot of skin, I would make an incision that hides inside the arm that can be more effective in these more extreme cases.
Posted in Liposuction, Tummy Tuck on April 7th
Question:I had a tummy tuck a month and a half ago. The results are very nice except that my pubic area seems bigger than it did before my surgery. Is this normal and will it get better? Answer:There are 2 reasons that this may happen. 1. The surgeon may not have done liposuction in this area. This is standard in my tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) procedure. I do this for a smoother, more polished result in the lower abdominal area. 2. The other reason is that you may have some additional temporary swelling due to surgery, and time will be required for more fluid (lymph) drainage systems to develop to drain that extra swelling. However, if the swelling has not resolved in 3 months, it is time to re-evaluate for liposuction in this area. |
